Marathon to Athens: Penteli Cave

Throughout its history, Penteli Cave has held significant spiritual significance. Initially, the cave served as a place of worship for Pan during ancient times. Later on, it became a sanctuary for Orthodox Christian hermits who sought to spend their days in quiet contemplation and prayer, away from the distractions of the outside world.

As time passed, civilization eventually caught up with the hermits and a church was constructed in the Middle Ages. However, to this day, it is believed that the cave continues to attract individuals who engage in mysterious occult practices.
